Driver Training

The passenger carrying industry is one of the largest in the country and as a forward thinking company V Cars is committed to raising standards generally by following a formal programme of training for our drivers.

All drivers joining V Cars will undergo our in-house training to clarify what is expected of a V Cars driver. The induction to the company will include instruction on Local Council rules and regulations relating to Private Hire, driver dress code, car presentation, assisting passengers including those with disabilities, and driving with consideration for the comfort and safety of passengers and other road users.

As drivers gain experience they are encouraged to continue training on a more formal basis. All training is undertaken at V Cars own Edexcel approved training centre in Swindon.

Drivers at V Cars are among the first in the country to gain the new BTEC (level 2) award in 'Transporting Passengers by Taxi and Private Hire'

To gain the VRQ award, candidates have to complete 7 mandatory units: Customer Care, Safety, Topography & Route Planning, Disability awareness, Carriage of Goods, Equal Opportunities & UK Licencing Regulations. We see formal qualifications as a useful tool and necessary step to providing a high standard of care, and a quality service for our customers.

V-Cars, one of the largest private hire companies in the Southwest of England are currently looking to fill a key position in order to increase our market share and develop the business in order to develop its full potential.

This role demands the ability to understand the core business and implement strategies in order to exploit the business potential and demonstrate structure growth plans. Therefore the successful candidate will be required to be able to demonstrate a good knowledge of the industry and an ability to interrogate and develop data streams.

Key Skills

1. Knowledge of Project Management
2. A comprehensive understanding of databases
3. Well defined communication skills and ability to correspond at all levels
4. Knowledge of the private hire business
5. Ability to communicate with a diverse workforce, and therefore the ability to speak other languages would be an advantage

This role would be suitable for a graduate/recently qualified person who is looking to work in a challenging environment. The successful candidate would need to flexible in their working hours as well as have the ability to travel. Given the nature of the business there may be a requirement to work unsocial hours, at times at short notice.
