Bristol International Balloon Fiesta
Head over to Ashton Court Estate from 8th – 11th August for this hot air balloon extravaganza. Catch the spectacular take-offs at dawn and dusk, as well as the famous night glows, plus there’s plenty of entertainment, fairground rides and food on offer.

If you don’t fancy the hustle and bustle, you’re sure to catch a glimpse of the balloons filling up the Bristol skyline from various spots around the city.

Bristol Harbour Festival
Hailed as one of Bristol’s biggest weekends of the summer, this years’ Harbour Festival will take place from 19th – 21st July. Celebrate the rich maritime history of the city with this dance, music and arts spectacular, and sample some of the delicious food and drink on offer while you’re at it!

Bristol Zoo
This summer, Wallace and Gromit are coming to Bristol Zoo for A Grand Day Out. Let the kids join the iconic duo on their Trainee Zookeeper trail to discover what it takes to look after the zoo’s amazing animals. You’ll also have the chance to wander the beautiful gardens and get up close with some of the wonderful animals.

The Wave
This artificial wave pool makes for the perfect inland-surfing experience that brings every aspect of the sport to you. At The Wave there’s also beautiful gardens, wonderful food and family-friendly camping to be enjoyed. Great for children (and adults) of all abilities!

Cheddar Gorge and Caves
If you’re looking for an educational outing this summer, why not head down to Cheddar Gorge and Caves and experience the Stone Age. Running from 20th July – 1st September, this new exhibition allows you to walk in the footsteps of cave men; dig through sand trays to discover ancient artefacts, try your hand at brass rubbing and learn essential Stone Age survival skills. Afterwards, explore the museum, where you’ll find plenty of amazing artefacts unearthed in the local area, helping you to understand how people lived thousands of years ago.

Weston Super Mare
Steeped in Victorian history, this stretch of the Somerset coast is a classic family day out that still has its charm. Stroll the Grand Pier, play the penny slot machines and sample everyone’s favourite seaside cuisine; think fish, chips and a 99 Flake.
