V Cars buys United Radio Cars

Regional private hire vehicle operator, V Cars, has acquired Swindon firm United Radio Cars, enabling even more local residents and businesses to benefit from an improved passenger experience.

Through the acquisition, even more Swindon residents will now be able to utilise the popular V Cars booking app, benefit from increased capacity, as well as transparent fares. V Cars have been operating in Swindon since 2005.

The V Cars app, available for both Android and Apple devices, which has been developed through more than £1million of investment, enables passengers to book a  journey in three taps, with the option of paying by either cash or card.

The app cuts out the need to book a  journey through a centralised service, although V Cars passengers can still book through traditional methods such as over the phone, walk-in or on account.

The deal to acquire United Radio Cars, formed in 1999, makes V Cars the No.1 private hire company in Swindon. Partner-driver numbers will increase to approximately 400.

V Cars is owned by the technology focused passenger services group, Veezu, which acquired the business in July 2017. The group has three other major service hubs throughout the UK, each operating under established local brands – Dragon Taxis in South Wales, A2B Radio Cars in the West Midlands and Amber Cars in Leeds.
